QUINCE

 

The quince is a fruit tree commonly found İn Antalya. It is similar to pears and apples. It is grown widely by lots of farmers as an agricultural product. The quince tree may grow 5 to 8 metres. The immature quince fruit is generally grey-white with lots of hair. On the other hand, at the end of the autumn, the fruit grows mature and it gets the colour of yellow with tiny hair. It is widely used in different parts of medicine industry especially. Its aroma and intense flavour make it a very important type of jam. It is also used in jellies, marmalades and pudding. It is drunk as quince tea in some parts of Antalya in winter. It is believed to heal flu and cold. As for me, I look forward to eating quince jam every winter and mum makes it perfect:)
