Kaleiçi is the historic center of Antalya. The structures in Kaleiçi date bact to Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman times. Most of them date to the late 18th and 19th centuries. Some traditional houses are used as houses while some are converted into boutique hotels, restaurants and shops selling handicrafts and other folkloric arts. Kaleiçi is located in the eastern part of the city. The name Kaleiçi means "Inside the Kale" or "Inner Kale" (Kale itself means castle or fortress).
